At the same time, he was fond of photography. His first shots were taken with film cameras. Since 2000, he has accumulated a large archive of photos, which he periodically uploads to Wikimedia Commons.\n\nIn 2021, Oleh took part in the Ukrainian part of the largest international photo contest on natural topics Wiki Loves Earth. According to the results of this competition, Oleh's photos took all five prizes in the special nomination \u201cProtecting Protected Areas.\u201d\n\n\n<figure class=\u201cwp-block-image aligncenter size-large\u201d>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\u201cwp-image-3138 size-medium\u201d title=\u201cAndros, beavers, nature, environmentalism\u201d src=\"https:\/\/www.andros.land\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/pasted-image7-0-300x200. png\u201c alt=\u201dAndros, beavers, nature, environmentalism\u201c width=\u201d300\u201c height=\u201d200\u201d \/><\/figure\nOne of his photos also won the third prize in the Human Rights and Environment category of the international part of Wiki Loves Earth. It depicts a picket on November 22, 2013, to protest the threat of deforestation in Polissia to burn wood for thermal power plants. The action included Polissya folk songs and a dramatic duel between a beaver and a logger.\n\nOn the eve of the open Russian invasion, on February 21, Oleh opened his fourth solo photo exhibition, \u201cThe Otherworld to Touch,\u201d at the Mala Opera in Kyiv. At the same time, he started a new job - now he is an editor at the Kyiv Youth Library.\n\nOn February 24, 2022, Oleh woke up at six in the morning. His mother told him that the Russians were bombing the Vasylkiv airport. He grabbed some essentials and drove through the traffic to Bila Tserkva. There, at the gates of the military unit, reservists were already being recruited for military service.\n\n\n<figure class=\u201cwp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\u201d><\/figure\n[caption id=\u201cattachment_3140\u201d align=\u201caligncenter\u201d width=\u201c272\u201d]<img class=\u201cwp-image-3140 size-medium\u201d src=\u201chttps:\/\/www.andros.land\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/pasted-image-0-e1705030957973-272x300.png\u201d alt=\u201cAndros, Armed Forces, war, Sumy\u201d width=\u201c272\u201d height=\u201c300\u201d \/> Oleh Andros during his service in the Armed Forces in Sumy, April 2022[\/caption]<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, Oleh Andros served in the ATO zone in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and as a first-line operational reserve, he immediately went to a military unit. On the first day of the Russian invasion in 2022, he was assigned to a unit that was sent to the front line. Oleh served in different regions: from the Brovary district, where the first stage of the war was hot because of Russian shelling, to Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;What I didn&#8217;t see in the ATO because I served in the brigade headquarters, I \u2018caught up\u2019 during the invasion. Now I know what an SAU shell sounds like and how it differs from the arrival of Grads; I know what it&#8217;s like to drive an infantry fighting vehicle for several hundred kilometers,\u201d says Oleg Andros.<\/p>\n<figure class=\u201cwp-block-image aligncenter size-large\u201d>\n<p><img class=\u201cwp-image-3142 size-medium\u201d title=\u201cAndros, Kotomistechko, Zookoty\u201d src=\u201chttps:\/\/www.andros.land\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/pasted-iyyymage-0-300x225.png\u201d alt=\u201cAndros, Kotomistechko, Zookoty\u201d width=\u201c300\u201d height=\u201c225\u201d \/><figcaption class=\u201cwp-element-caption\u201d><\/figcaption><\/figure\nDuring the war, Oleh continued to participate in the activities of environmental organizations. In particular, in March, he helped evacuate 62 cats from Kotomistechko to the Kyiv Zoo from Kyiv, which was then a frontline zone. There are still 45 cats in this shelter, and they are being helped by the NGO \u201c<a href=\u201dhttp:\/\/nature-first.info\u201c target=\u201d_blank\u201c rel=\u201dnoopener\u201c>Nature Above All<\/a>\u201d, which Oleh co-founded.<\/p>\n<p>Oleh does not edit Wikiprojects yet, but during the war he found time to take some good photos.
